The following are examples of assignments
we have performed
Each assignment was for a different company.
|
Sector |
Assignment |
|
Metals Refining |
Preparing for a new aluminium smelter project
in West Africa, at the request of the team, we provided coaching,
in French, on the elements of and preparation of a thorough
project proposal and execution plans. We identified the
inadequate local electricity supply, which is being resolved:
the government has announced the funding and building of a
multi-billion hydro-electric scheme. |
|
Nuclear Processing |
Using business process mapping, we conducted
planning and risk workshops to define and sequence the
activities to be conducted during front-end preparations for a
number of major projects, including compliance with the
requirements of the nuclear safety regulators. The teams
appreciated the transfer of experience from the oil and gas
industry, where managing the expectations of safety regulators
is also a key issue. |
|
Oil and Gas |
Coaching sessions supporting the early
planning and economic analysis of a prospective LNG Project in
Middle East. We concluded the risks were not rewarded in the
commercial terms on offer, so the client determined to withdraw
from that opportunity. A different team of the same client
(which we did not meet) took similar terms for a similar venture
in North Africa and subsequently had to close down the project,
compensate the national companies and write off losses over $1
billion. |
|
Wind Energy |
Study for an Offshore Wind Farm, identifying
lessons transferrable from offshore upstream industry to the
installation of wind turbines offshore. Key issues identified
for the project included the planning consent, which different
departments of the UK Government simultaneously supported and
opposed. The solution was to leverage the high-level diplomatic
influence of a partner in the project. |
We regard client confidentiality as
essential to our business, so the above examples deliberately do not
reveal the identity of the clients and teams involved.
